ECB Officially Establishes Cricket Regulator as Independent Oversight Body

The ECB has launched the Cricket Regulator, an independent body. The 317-page document “Holding Up a Mirror to Cricket” critiqued the ECB’s dual roles, particularly in handling the racism crisis in English cricket. The new body, the ICC, will “investigate alleged regulatory breaches and make decisions about whether to bring charges.” The Cricket Regulator will be overseen by an independent Cricket Regulatory Board and will cover areas previously under the ECB’s remit. Dave Lewis will oversee the body until a permanent director is appointed in 2024. The ECB has welcomed the formation of the new body and its independence.
