Travis Head, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc, winners of the World Cup, are among the players set to be up for bidding at the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on December 19. The auction will begin with capped players, starting with batters, followed by allrounders, wicketkeepers, fast bowlers, and spinners. The first set of capped batters will also include England’s Harry Brook, who was signed for INR 13.25 crores by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous auction but was subsequently released after underwhelming returns. Another player to attract significant interest is Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai, who was the highest run-getter for Afghanistan in the World Cup. Last season’s runners-up Gujarat Titans have the biggest purse of INR 38.15 crores heading into the auction, followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. The auction, which is being held overseas for the first time, will begin at 2.30pm IST (1pm local) and will include a live audience for the first time.
