Australia’s approach to India Test
Shelley Nitschke, Australia’s coach, is keeping an open mind about the playing conditions at Wankhede Stadium for their Test against India and is ready to embrace any challenges that come their way. Nitschke expects spin to play a pivotal role in the match, and the team has been training at the venue since their arrival. However, there are still uncertainties about the pitch.
Nitschke pointed out that the team is preparing for traditional subcontinent conditions and emphasized the need to adapt quickly during the match. The squad has many all-rounders, giving them ample options for team structure.
Alyssa Healy, the new permanent captain, is expected to lead the team and keep wickets after recovering from a finger injury. The team is looking positive ahead of the Test, and the final playing XI will be decided based on the conditions.
With many options available, the team is yet to finalize their playing combination. Left-arm fast bowler Lauren Cheatle, who last played for Australia in 2019, impressed during a warm-up match, providing a point of difference with her angle. The only Test between India and Australia begins on December 21 in Mumbai.
