Naveen-ul-Haq will play for Durban’s Super Giants in the SA20 as planned, following a contractual dispute with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB). Initially, the ACB denied Naveen, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) due to their refusal to sign central contracts for 2024. However, the sanctions were largely reversed on review, allowing the players to sign central contracts and granting them “limited NOCs”. The ACB did not outline the limits that would be imposed but stated that they will prioritize national duty and ACB’s interests when considering the issuance of NOCs to the players. Naveen has arrived in South Africa and will replace Richard Gleeson in the DSG squad, with Marcus Stoinis also available. The SA20’s commissioner, Graeme Smith, expressed excitement about the caliber of players joining the league. Additionally, Mujeeb and Farooqi have also been granted NOCs for the ILT20 and will arrive in the UAE following Afghanistan’s third T20I against India to play for Gulf Giants and MI Emirates, respectively.
