Amol Muzumdar Compares Deepti Sharma to ‘Ben Stokes’ in the Ind vs Eng Women’s Test

Amol Muzumdar, head coach of India’s women’s team, praised Deepti Sharma, calling her the “Ben Stokes of the team” after her impressive performance in their recent match at DY Patil Stadium. Deepti’s outstanding performance included nine wickets and solid knocks of 67 and 20, leading India to a historic 347-run victory. This victory marked the highest margin of victory in women’s Test history. Additionally, Deepti became the second Indian after Shubhangi Kulkarni to achieve the feat of picking up five wickets and scoring a fifty in the same Test.

Muzumdar spoke highly of Deepti, highlighting her importance in the team’s lower order, her crucial bowling contributions, and her ability to take wickets. He emphasized the confidence Deepti displayed in her batting and her significant impact on the team’s success.

India posted a total of 428 runs in their first innings, with 410 runs scored on the first day. Despite losing six wickets for 186 runs in the second innings, they maintained a run rate of approximately four and a half runs per over.
