Hridoy, Naeem Shine in Rain-Affected Match
Experienced Naeem Islam and youngster Towhid Hridoy scored centuries in the rain-interrupted BCL game between Central Zone and North Zone at Sylhet Academy Ground.
Naeem reached his 32nd century in the first innings, scoring 281 with nine fours and three sixes. Fast bowler Musfik Hasan took four wickets for North Zone. Hridoy, a Bangladesh white-ball regular, scored 165 off 166 balls with 13 fours and eight sixes.
The match ended in a stalemate due to rain washing out most of the third and fourth days. Central Zone openers Mohammad Naim and Rony Talukdar remained unbeaten on 20 and 32 respectively.
Emon, Amite, Nasum Star for East Zone
East Zone scored 402 in their first innings with four batters hitting half-centuries. South Zone’s left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam took 5 for 114. South Zone replied with 282 runs, with Nasum Ahmed taking 5 for 81.
In the second innings, East Zone lost their first three wickets without a run on the board but Amite Hasan’s seventh first-class century saved them. East Zone declared on 249 for 6, setting South Zone a 370 target on the last day. Anamul Haque’s 55 off 50 balls helped South Zone reach 80 for three in the remaining 16 overs.
