Ben Stokes to determine ODI future following knee surgery ahead of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

Ben Stokes announced that he’ll make a decision of re-entering ODI retirement after knee surgery. He led a win against Pakistan with his 84 runs off 76 balls but it was too late for England to save much from their World Cup campaign. They had already qualified for the 2025 Champions Trophy. Stokes, who reversed his retirement to play in the World Cup, will have surgery on his left knee. But, he hopes to be fit for the Test series in India. England won their last game against Pakistan after half centuries to Stokes, Joe Root, and Jonny Bairstow and a star performance by David Willey. Despite exiting with a win, Stokes admitted that England’s World Cup performance was very disappointing and frustrating. He said they were unable to pinpoint exactly what went wrong. Nonetheless, he acknowledged that failure and frustration can also lead to success in the future.
