Claims of Corruption in Indian Cricket: Sreesanth Accuses Gambhir of Calling Him a ‘Fixer’

Former India fast bowler S Sreesanth has accused former team-mate Gautam Gambhir of calling him a “fixer” during a Legends League match in Surat. Gambhir is the captain of India Capitals while Sreesanth is playing for Gujarat Giants in the T20 tournament. Sreesanth took to Instagram to post a video where he claimed that Gambhir called him something rude and unacceptable. In a second video posted the following day, Sreesanth revealed more details, alleging that Gambhir repeatedly called him a “fixer” using profane language on live TV during the match. Sreesanth was banned from cricket for his involvement in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal, but the Supreme Court set aside his sentence, leading to the reduction of his ban to seven years, which ended in September 2020. Sreesanth and Gambhir were team-mates in 49 of Sreesanth’s 90 international games for India between the years 2005 and 2011, including during India’s title-winning campaigns in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup.
