Maxwell didn’t play in Melbourne Stars’ last BBL match on January 15. He’d been rested from Australia’s three-match ODI series with West Indies due to his previously broken leg and wasn’t due to play again until February 9 in Australia’s T20 side. That’s when he’s set to play. Unfortunately, he was recently involved in an incident in Adelaide, which led to his hospital visit from overindulging at a pub event. McDonald expressed concern and said Maxwell will need to take care of himself moving forward. Despite this, Australia wants to see Maxwell playing cricket for the next three to four years. McDonald mentioned Maxwell’s serious injury during the 2022 World Cup and noted that Maxwell will need to be under management for the rest of his career. Maxwell had a serious leg injury in November 2022 and broke his leg at a birthday party. Maxwell’s recovery from the injury has been difficult and his soreness had caused him to miss games. The ODI World Cup was an outstanding event for Maxwell, but he is managing recurring injuries and will need continued management for the rest of his career. Hopefully, Maxwell will return to play in the West Indies T20 series.
