Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are back in India’s T20I squad for the three-match series against Afghanistan, marking their return to the T20I format after more than a year. The selectors have prioritized Test cricket and ODIs, but their selection for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA indicates that they are back in India’s plans for the tournament.
India’s T20I team will be led by Rohit Sharma, and also includes players such as Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Sanju Samson. Following the T20I series against Afghanistan, India will be gearing up for a five-Test home series against England, before dispersing to join their respective IPL teams for the 2024 season, which will conclude just a couple of weeks before the T20 World Cup begins on June 1.
