Exciting 3rd ODI Clash: Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe 2023/24 Match Report

2 min read

Zimbabwe chose to bat vs Sri Lanka.

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat first in the third ODI against Sri Lanka at Kettarama. The sky was cloudy at the time of the toss.

Three changes were made by the visitors to their XI. They brought in Wellington Masakadza in place of Tapiwa Mufudza, Luke Jongwe replaced Faraz Akram, and Takudzwanashe Kaitano replaced Tinashe Kamunhukamwe at the top of the batting order to strengthen their bowling.

Sri Lanka also made two alterations. Shevon Daniel made his debut while former captain Dasun Shanaka was replaced by a fit-again Wanindu Hasaranga, who missed the first two games due to injury. Legspinner Jeffrey Vandersay made way for Hasaranga.

Zimbabwe must win this match to level the series as they lost the second match despite making a chase of 209 tough for Sri Lanka, with their seamers, especially Richard Ngarava, being very effective.

Both previous matches at Kettarama were rain-affected, with the first match getting washed out without a result. There was a significant rain delay in the second match but not long enough to reduce the number of overs. Rain might play a role in the third ODI as well.
