Shimron Hetmyer dropped by West Indies for Australia tour
Shimron Hetmyer has been dropped from the ODI and T20I squads for West Indies’ series against Australia next month. Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers, who were unavailable for the Test tour, have been included for the T20Is.
Neither Holder nor Mayers are part of the ODI squad, with batters Brandon King and Sherfane Rutherford allowed to play franchise cricket before returning for the T20Is.
Hetmyer, who has struggled for form recently, with scores of 1 and 2 in the T20Is against England, and 32, 0 and 12 in the three ODIs.
Desmond Haynes, West Indies’ lead selector, said, “We have some new inclusions, who have impressed over a significant period and a couple of returning players, who we think will have an impact.”
The three ODIs take place in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra on February 2, 4 and 6 followed by the T20Is in Hobart, Adelaide and Perth on February 9, 11 and 13.
