Graham Onions is returning to his home club Durham as the lead bowling coach after leaving Lancashire. He spent 14 years at Durham and played a key role in the club’s success, winning three County Championship titles and the One-Day Cup. Onions then moved to Lancashire where he helped them win the 2019 Division Two title and later became the bowling coach. He claimed 527 first-class wickets for Durham and 104 wickets for Lancashire. Onions also played in nine Tests for England. He expressed gratitude and excitement for the opportunity to return to Durham and work with talented players. Durham’s director of cricket, Marcus North, believes Onions’ understanding of the club’s culture and the North East cricketing landscape will benefit the team. He will also work with Nathan Rimmington to oversee the development of young talent.
