Sydney Sixers re-signed Afghanistan legspinner Izharulhaq Naveed for BBL after England’s Rehan Ahmed withdrew due to selection in West Indies tour. Naveed bagged 9 wickets in 9 games in the last season with an economy rate of 7.37. Sixers coach Greg Shipperd welcomed Naveed back to the club, mentioning the strong spinning group. Nathan Lyon has moved to Melbourne Renegades and will play against Sixers in their opening game. Steve Smith will be available for the opening game and possibly the derby against Sydney Thunder. Rehan and Harry Brook withdrew from BBL while Zak Crawley will join Perth Scorchers late due to the West Indies tour. Joel Davies is with Australia T20I squad in India. Other overseas signings include David Payne and Liam Dawson joining Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars, respectively. More overseas additions are expected ahead of the tournament’s start on December 7.
