Australia might release Matt Renshaw to play in the BBL Challenger on Monday if Brisbane Heat qualify despite the second Test starting on Thursday. Usman Khawaja suffered a head knock but passed his first concussion test and scans cleared him of any damage to his jaw. Renshaw may be released again to play for the Heat on Monday and possibly for the final in Sydney on Wednesday. Australia head coach Andrew McDonald said the selectors are unlikely to add another batter to the squad. He stated that they may release Renshaw again to play for the Heat on Monday and potentially for the final in Sydney on Wednesday. McDonald said it was difficult to judge how the revamped batting order had functioned after just one game. He was optimistic that the top six and the way they complement each other gives Australia the best opportunity to maximize scores. Australia’s batters were impressed by the quality of Shamar Joseph’s bowling during the Adelaide Test. McDonald believes they will be better prepared for him in Brisbane after getting a good look at him. He stated that now there’s less unknowns going into the second Test match and that many decision-making errors will have ironed themselves out.
