Morne Morkel has stepped down as Pakistan’s fast-bowling coach before his contract was set to end, the PCB announced on Monday. No reason was given for his departure. Morkel had joined the coaching staff in June and had a successful stint during the series against Afghanistan and the early part of the Asia Cup. However, Pakistan’s World Cup campaign was disappointing as they failed to qualify for the final and finished in fifth place. Morkel’s future with the team is now uncertain as he has resigned from his position.
