Sadia Iqbal and Aliya Riaz helped Pakistan beat New Zealand in a Super Over after the third ODI ended in a tie in Christchurch. Pakistan denied New Zealand a series whitewash after losing the first two games. Pakistan looked like favorites for the chase of 252, but a late collapse meant they needed 8 runs in the last over with just one wicket in hand. Lea Tahuhu bowled it well but gave away 4 byes. With 2 needed for a win off the final ball, Najiha Alvi got the ball away to deep backward square, and Pakistan leveled the scores. Riaz started the Super Over with a boundary off the outside edge. Pakistan managed to get to 11. Amelia Kerr was out second ball, and New Zealand could not reach the target. Kerr top-scored for New Zealand and took two wickets as well. Devine and Amelia steadied New Zealand’s innings with 50-plus stands. After Kerr was bowled by Fatima, New Zealand lost wickets but a stand between Green and Jess Kerr helped them reach 251. Pakistan started slowly and lost an early wicket, but Maroof and Riaz added 101 for the third wicket. Sana played an enterprising knock and ensured Pakistan did not lose momentum. The partnership of Pervaiz and Alvi inched Pakistan closer to the target, and despite late wickets, Alvi kept her calm, taking the game to a Super Over.
