The Desert Vipers, the runners-up of ILT20 2023, have signed Mohammad Amir for the upcoming season. Amir, who has 303 T20 wickets to his name, last played for Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League in September. He also played in the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament with the New York Strikers, where his team emerged as the champions.

The Vipers’ director of cricket, Tom Moody, expressed his excitement about adding Amir to the team, highlighting his familiarity with the T20 format and the conditions in the UAE. Amir’s availability for the Vipers is not an issue as he no longer plays for the Pakistan national team.

Amir also expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Vipers and playing alongside talented and experienced players like Alex Hales, Colin Munro, and Sheldon Cottrell. He looks forward to reuniting with fellow Pakistanis Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, and Azam Khan. Amir is confident about his performance in the UAE, a place he is familiar with due to his extensive experience playing cricket there.

The second season of ILT20 begins on January 19, with the Vipers’ first match scheduled against the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders on January 21 in Dubai.
