India batter Prithvi Shaw to return to competitive cricket
India batter Prithvi Shaw will compete in club cricket after recovering from a severe knee injury. He will feature in Mumbai’s squad for the upcoming 2023-24 Ranji Trophy against Bengal, marking his return to competitive cricket. Shaw, 24, acquired the injury in a county game in August and underwent surgery in London. Despite delays in his recovery, the player has been cleared to return to the game after coming through a fitness test. Shaw’s last international appearance was with India during their tour of Sri Lanka in July 2021. He has had mixed form in recent years; although he performed well in the previous Ranji Trophy season, he faced scoring struggles in the IPL. However, Shaw’s return is in the wake of Mumbai’s impressive league record, showing high hopes for an impactful comeback.
