The Sydney Thunder emerged victorious against the Melbourne Stars in a match where Daniel Sams shone with both the bat and the ball. Sams’ impressive performance propelled the Thunder to a thrilling five-wicket win over the Stars. The Stars were bowled out for 172, with Sams taking 4 wickets for 33 runs in his four overs. Sams also played a key role with the bat, scoring 22 not out in 13 balls to secure the win for the Thunder.

Beau Webster was the standout performer for the Stars, scoring 59 runs off 44 balls and also taking 4 wickets for 29 runs. Despite Webster’s heroics, it was Zaman Khan who earned the Player-of-the-Match award for his outstanding bowling performance, taking 3 wickets for 24 runs.

The Thunder’s victory moved them to fifth place in the standings, while the Stars remain at the bottom with just one win in 11 matches. The Stars’ batting lineup failed to capitalize on their starts, with only Webster making a significant contribution after they opted to bat first.

The Thunder got off to a strong start, with Alex Hales and Cameron Bancroft providing a solid opening stand. However, Webster’s impressive bowling performance saw the dismissal of both openers, as well as Ollie Davies. Despite a few hiccups, the Thunder ultimately secured the win with ten deliveries remaining.
