In the second Test at the Gabba, West Indies chose to bat first against Australia, with debutant Kevin Sinclair replacing Gudakesh Motie. Australia’s captain Pat Cummins stated that he would have also opted to bat first. Sinclair received his Test cap from former West Indies and Guyana allrounder, Carl Hooper. Despite some Covid infections within the camp, Australia has decided to stick with their winning line-up. Opener Usman Khawaja has also recovered from a head injury and is fit to play. The Gabba pitch has less grass compared to last year, and it is hosting a day-night Test for the first time since 2019. Australia has a winning record in day-night Tests, having won all 11 matches they have played since 2015. The playing XIs for both teams are provided below.
