Sydney Sixers Captain Moises Henriques defended team-mate Tom Curran who received a four-match ban for allegedly intimidating an umpire. Curran faced a Level 3 charge for almost running into an umpire before a match against Hobart Hurricanes on December 11. Henriques said the footage of the incident didn’t capture the full context, and that the incident took a toll on Curran. The team will appeal the ban, but it carries a risk as the punishment could be increased. The incident also led Cricket Australia’s chief executive to urge respect for umpires and match officials.
