In the first T20I in Sharjah, Afghanistan defeated UAE by 72 runs. Afghanistan scored 203 for 3, with Rahmanullah Gurbaz smashing his first T20I hundred, scoring 100 off 52 balls. Ibrahim Zadran contributed 59 runs to the team’s total. In response, UAE could only manage 131 for 4, with Vriitya Aravind top-scoring with an unbeaten 70. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen-ul-Haq took two and one wickets respectively for Afghanistan. This win gives Afghanistan a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, with the next match also scheduled to be played in Sharjah.
