Ireland’s Balbirnie, Campher, and Hume shine in win over Zimbabwe
Ireland’s impressive victory over Zimbabwe in Harare was thanks to stellar performances from Balbirnie, Campher, and Hume. Zimbabwe was restricted to 197 in 40 overs, with Hume taking 4 wickets for 34 runs and Campher taking 4 wickets for 37 runs. In response, Balbirnie, Campher, and Harry Tector comfortably chased down the target with 13 balls to spare.
Ireland lost Paul Stirling early but managed to achieve the DLS-adjusted target of 201 from 40 overs. Balbirnie and Campher’s 70-run stand set the stage for a successful finish to their tour of Zimbabwe.
Despite a slow start, Balbirnie eventually shifted gears and reached his half-century off 76 balls. He then accelerated, hitting 32 runs off his next 26 balls to complete the chase with ease. In the process, he became just the fourth Irishman to hit 3000 ODI runs.
With Lorcan Tucker hitting back-to-back boundaries, Ireland secured a win in both the ODI and T20I series.
