Fanos Hira retires after nine years and steps down as chairman of Worcestershire County Cricket Club. Hira’s involvement began in 2014 and grew to include a role on the main board in 2016 before becoming chair in 2018. His tenure saw on-field success and he also served as an observer on the ECB board, using his accounting background to produce a report on the ECB’s finances. Hira also advocated for transfer fees in county cricket to compensate clubs for nurturing talent. The club is in better financial shape as Hira leaves, and an open process will be undertaken to appoint a new chair. Hira has been awarded Honorary Life Membership at Worcestershire, pending ratification at the next AGM. Vice chair Paul Pridgeon commended Hira’s tireless efforts as a volunteer and his significant impact on the club.
