Young fast bowler Jayden Seales is out with a shoulder injury while all-rounder Kyle Mayers has decided to opt out of the upcoming tour to play T20s. Most of those expected to make their Test debuts played for West Indies A in South Africa recently and performed well. The newbies include offspin allrounder Sinclair, who stood out in both games in South Africa and on an earlier tour to Bangladesh. Pace bowler Joseph, with limited first-class experience, also made an impression in South Africa by taking 12 wickets in two matches. Hodge was also impressive, scoring 179 runs at 29.83 in South Africa. With nearly half the squad having no Test experience, the onus will be on senior players, including captain Kraigg Brathwaite and new vice-captain Alzarri Joseph. Selector Desmond Haynes expressed confidence in the team, despite the unavailability of some key players. The Test squad will have a training camp in Adelaide and then face a Cricket Australia XI in a four-day game. The tour includes three ODIs and three T20Is. West Indies have not won a Test in Australia since 1997 and are looking to turn the tide this time around.
