Sydney Sixers emerged victorious against Hobart Hurricanes as Riley Meredith, who suffered an apparent side strain, went down during the match. The Sixers, who are off to a 2-0 start in the BBL season, successfully chased down the Hurricanes’ 135 for 8. Daniel Hughes led the charge with an unbeaten 60 from 50 balls. Hughes replaced Steven Smith in the squad, and put on a 47-run partnership with Moises Henriques. Jordan Silk also contributed 23 runs before Hughes sealed the victory with a leg-side six. Meanwhile, Meredith showed signs of discomfort midway through the match and will undergo scans on Tuesday. Earlier, the Hurricanes’ innings got off to a good start before a collapse in the middle overs. Tom Curran and Ben Dwarshuis wreaked havoc with the ball, while Jack Edwards impressed with a diving catch. The Hurricanes managed to recover slightly, thanks to Chris Jordan and Corey Anderson’s efforts, but ultimately fell short in the end.
