Kane Williamson retired hurt due to tightness in his right hamstring during the second T20I against Pakistan in Hamilton. As a precaution, he did not return to the field. Tim Southee will captain the rest of the game in his absence. Williamson was attended to by the physio after the tenth over, and he was seen clutching his right hamstring. He was replaced by Daryl Mitchell during the drinks interval. According to New Zealand Cricket, he experienced tightness while completing a run in the tenth over. This is not the first time Williamson has had injuries. He ruptured his ACL during IPL 2023 and suffered a broken thumb during the ODI World Cup. Most recently, he was withdrawn from the T20I series against Bangladesh last month and was set to sit out of the final game against Pakistan.
