Perth Scorchers Add Marcus Harris to Roster for BBL Finals

1 min read

Marcus Harris, recently overlooked for a Test recall, has been signed by Perth Scorchers as a replacement player for the final stages of the BBL. The defending champions have lost Zak Crawley to England Test duty and Laurie Evans due to an ILT20 deal. They have also brought in Harris to bolster their options, as he did not have a BBL deal. Harris previously played for Melbourne Renegades last season and for Scorchers between 2014 and 2016, accumulating 981 runs in T20s at 20.43 and a strike-rate of 121.71. After securing a place in the finals with a victory over Brisbane Heat, Scorchers face a crucial game against Sydney Sixers to earn a spot in the Qualifier. Harris would be eligible to play in the finals even if he doesn’t face the Sixers, as local replacement players are exempt from the requirement to make a regular-season appearance. In the Test squad, Harris was overlooked for a comeback when the selectors opted for Matt Renshaw as the spare batter.
