The Battle of the Aussies: Labuschagne vs Stoinis in ODI World Cup Semi-Final

1 min read

Marnus Labuschagne, who will be selected – Marnus Labuschagne or Marcus Stoinis for the first time at this ODI World Cup, Australia looks to be having a full fifteen-man crew to choose from for their semi-final against South Africa. This means the selectors must decide on the make-up of the top seven. Though the decision hasn’t been needed yet, it looks to be between Labuschagne and Stoinis, two very different cricketers. It appears that Labuschagne scored 286 runs at 35.75 and a strike-rate of 77.08, boosted by his 62 off 47 balls against the Netherlands. However, the conversation hasn’t changed regarding his batting alone. But there are ways his fielding could impact from outside the starting XI. Even more than two months ago, playing World Cup finals was a distant dream for Labuschagne, but he could prove one of the great survivors.
