Embracing Aggression: Glenn Phillips’ Remedy for Success

1 min read
After hitting 13 boundaries and two sixes during his 72-ball 87, Glenn Phillips credited his performance to his simple mantra of using his bat as much as possible on the demanding Dhaka pitch. His counterattacking half-century gave New Zealand an eight-run lead over Bangladesh in a low-scoring match at the end of day three.

Phillips’ slog-swept sixes caught the Bangladesh spinners off guard and forced them to change their lengths, allowing him to attack the ball even more effectively.

“For me, it is about using my bat as much as possible,” Phillips said. “I’m generally not looking to leave many deliveries.”

Phillips also mentioned that New Zealand would not want to be chasing much more than 180-200 heading into the fourth innings.
